WordPress 2.2 is released!

WordPress 2.2 has been released and contains some some welcome features including:

  • WordPress Widgets
  • Full Atom support
  • AJAX’d comment editing
  • Speed optimisations

They mention WYSIWYG support for Safari in a future WordPress version.

This is the first version to be released under the new 4 month release cycle. Having a 4 month release cycle for major versions means that the changes will be more incremental, which I welcome, as it means there is less potential for breakage during upgrades (although this has never been a problem for me yet).

Thank you to the WordPress team for all your work. I’ll be upgrading once the K2 theme supports 2.2.
